Rolling down interstate 89 with my car windows down and feeling the crisp fresh air of a Vermont Autumn day….this is what I dreamt of as I waited for this day all year. Our family every year makes a trek to one of our favorite resorts, The Basin Harbor Club on the shores of Lake Champlain, Vermont. For the past 126 years this resort with 77 private cottages has welcome guest from around the world and we call this home every autumn to celebrate the end of our summer and to enjoy the kaleidoscope of colors that fall brings us.
Me and my hubby loves to keep certain traditions in our lives so every year we have something to look forward to, and also Mr. Freddy will have fond memories of his childhood that will enrich his future life. The end of season activities at the BHC are tailored to young kids and adults . We were pleasantly surprised to arrive when they were having a kids fair with games, face painting and Mr. Freddy favorite a balloon animal designer , twisting ball0ons in so many designs. And for the adults enjoyed having a beer and bacon festival with local micro brewers and maple sugar bacon being sampled in all types of food (mine and Mr. Freddy’s was the maple glazed donut sprinkled with bacon bits… Mmmm) My hubby sampled the fine beers the brewers offered and we all enjoyed the band that was playing classic rock n roll music. At the end of the evening we all gathered around the giant bonfire and enjoyed the warmth of the fire against the cold fall night.
Our two bedroom cottage, Sunnyside, with full bathroom in each bedroom. Few years ago, we stayed in the "Birches'' cottage.
Our cozy living room with fireplace where we all gathered in the evening.
The back porch.
I enjoyed a glass of wine, Cowtipper, with beautiful Lake Champlain view on the porch.
Mr. Balloon Man did a great job entertaining the kids.
Dakin, the best bacon I have ever had.
Mr.Freddy had fun playing games.
Bonfire with sparkles. They had fireworks show at 9:00 P.M. but we skipped watching this year because the kids were so tired and sleepy.
